X-Shift Online

Last Updated: July 27th 2009

Created By: Phoenix Concepts, LLC

Status: In Design

X-Shift is a massive multiplayer online game set in a dystopian, cyberpunk future. We are using the Ardor3D engine (previously jMonkey) and Darkstar. We chose Darkstar, not only for its portability and scalability, but also because our goal is to have a single instance world, which will allow us to expand the game based on player actions without having to track multiple story arcs on several "shards". X-Shift will, in a sense, have a "Second Life" feel, if Second Life were set in a violent, corrupt and futuristic world. Players will be able to become criminals, police, famous sports stars, performers, CEOs and a lot more!

The Aceituna Project (Game Name suggestions accepted)

Last Updated: 2008/11/21

Created By: Frodo, Aceituna Project Team Members

Status: In Design

The basic idea is to build a Massive, Multiplayer, Online, Strategy Game where the players can manage troops and cities as in Sid Meier's Civilization, but also buy, transport and sell goods (like in Machiavelli The Prince or Merchant Prince) or build factories and mines to produce the goods. or all at once or in any combination they like.

To that we will add a lot of detail (like Unit equipment and realistic logistics) that normally is left out of strategy games, be it to avoid overwhelming the AI (since this game will be exclusively multiplayer there will not be AI) or to avoid swamping the players with excessive micromanagement (The game will offer an "Owner/Controller" concept, allowing players to share control of units, cities, and installations, thus avoiding micromanagement issues). The full Darkstar Server will be used, managing connectivity, persistence, concurrence, etc.
